Market Row Botanical Rum is Hiring!

The Opportunity

We need a dynamic, charismatic results-driven individual to help us accelerate the growth of our new premium Rum brand, Market Row Botanical Rum. We launched in September 2021 and everything is going according to plan! We have distribution in a significant number of outlets in Brixton, we are growing our off-trade presence and we are on all the major independent eCommerce sites. Our brand is distributed by Boutique Bar Brands, who support us in the development of the brand.

Our story is of two rum enthusiasts who wanted to create a super-premium rum based in London and a rum that works with and gives back to the community where we have chosen to locate. The Brixton Distillery on Electric Lane is home to the newest and most exciting botanical rum on the market.

Market Row has been developed by Pat Venning and Laurent Lacassagne; two ex-Pernod Ricard employees who have a passion for rum and a strong network in the industry. It is backed up by Mikey Hirsch our Global Brand Ambassador, who has not only achieved a significant listings base for the brand, he has also become our apprentice distiller.

The rum that forms the foundations of our brand is a blend of high-end Caribbean rums from Jamaica, Barbados and the Dominican Republic. These are blended in the Caribbean and then re-distilled here in Brixton with botanicals sourced solely from traders in Brixton.

The Role

This is an exciting role as you will be pivotal to the brand’s accelerated growth. We need much more than sales resources, we need a personality who can represent the brand, showcase its uniqueness and demonstrate how to make great drinks, we need an individual who can activate the brand via social media and we need a strong character who generally wants to get involved and share in the excitement of a new premium drinks brand.

Our primary requirement is that we accelerate distribution in London and in small-medium sized pub groups. You will work alongside Mikey, Chris, Lizzie and Pat, leveraging BBBs database and generating new levels of interest. Our intention is that we are adopted by local bars, restaurants, independent retail and premium cocktail venues. Distribution will then need to be accompanied by activation.

You will need to be motivated, a self-starter and possess a tenacious desire to win. There will be sales and distribution targets and you will need to develop relationships with the on-trade in South London. You will have a passion for drinks, be able to make a cocktail and know your daiquiri from
your mule.

Objectives

Maximise availability, visibility and rate of sale to targeted London on-trade customers of Market Row Botanical rum.

Be the face (together with Mikey) of London’s coolest new rum brand.

Responsibilities

    • Gain new listings and maximise visibility to increase brand awareness
    • Develop new relationships with south London on trade
    • Build and maintain a pipeline of customers and relentlessly follow up all leads generated
    • Represent our brand at trade and consumer events
    • Regular, constructive and open contact with Brand Owners and BBB management

The Deal

    • Salaried Position with performance bonus
    • Flexible working (open to 3/4 days)
    • Role development and increased responsibilities will come with performance delivery
    • Equity after one year

Requirements

Excellent relationship and interpersonal skills
Sound knowledge of the category and previous account management experience
Charisma and personality
Bar background

T&C’s

Start date: May/June
Probation: 3 months
Salary: £28k + 4k bonus (reviewed after 3 months)
Hours: 37.5 (flexible hours, but some early evening work required)
Expenses: Public transport (within London) and all other reasonable business-related
