IT IS THE PEOPLE OF BRIXTON THAT PROVIDE COMMUNITY, IT SURE IS HARD TO BOTTLE, BUT WE ARE NEVER GOING TO STOP TRYING.

Brixton, the culturally diverse melting pot of South London, is the place that we are lucky enough to call our home. Famous for its seemingly infinite offer of places to eat, drink, hang-out and discover, Brixton is practically overflowing with local independents, creatives and a community spirit that welcomed us, Market Row Rum at The Brixton Distillery, with open arms. This community is not only rich in creativity and initiative but in its significant History.

Home to the Windrush Generation, Brixton has endured an abundance of struggle and prejudice but continues to establish and revive its cultural roots. In the heart of Brixton, Market Row and Brixton village provide a global village of cultural convergence and distinct sense of community with its consistently packed line up of events and collaborations shared by local venders and creatives. To be a part of this community has produced a brand-new journey of its own. We, at Market Row Rum, were quickly infected with the intrepid spirit of the Brixton Community, and the place we have called home since 2019.

Since then, we have been privileged enough to meet many of the community along the way with collaborations providing the heart and soul of this brand from the very beginning. Two local Ambassadors that inspired us, Pete and Danny from Brixton Streetwear focus entirely on giving back to their community and we have been able to share some of their journey. It all started over a beer, where we made a mutual agreement to work together. Within weeks of launching, we had started on our first collaboration, they designed our hoodies and t- shirts, and thanks to them, our brandmark has become instantly recognisable in Brixton. Pete and Danny also welcomed us into their own community of friends, one of which is the illustrious Jumpin Jack Frost, another partnership we are very proud of.

Jumpin Jack Frost, the illustrious Brixton centric DJ, Drum and Bass Ambassador and tastemaker, has been the newest addition to the Brixton Distillery Family. He approached our team with the idea of making his own rum. An iconic Brixton born and bred DJ with his own rum; his tagline ‘Rum and Bass’, is potentially the best tagline to have ever existed! Frosty visits the distillery frequently and is a massive supporter of Market Row Rum as well as Frost’s Liquid V.

One of our collaborations of which we are most proud is the work we did with Hannah John at the Black Cultural Archives, in which we developed bespoke packaging for the 40th anniversary of their launch. We supported this with events and master classes, and we look forward to continuing this partnership with Lisa, Hannah and the team.

Lastly, the recent Brixton X Harlem festival driven by Brixton BID to bring together the shared values of the two respective suburbs has been a great experience for us. Our involvement and support to this venture and the BID team has been a profound experience for the entire team.

Additionally, we would like to thank our wonderful and loyal customers for embarking on this journey with us, It is the people of Brixton that provide community, it sure is hard to bottle, but we are never going to stop trying.
